oil pressure
« on: August 23, 2008, 09:33:31 PM »

has anyone had any problem with there 110 losing power and oil pressure? Feels like whaen I pull in the clutch that I am draggin a anchor behind me, oil pressure dropped to around 10-12psi. Runs like crap. Got it to the dealer, asked the tech to take it for a ride, came out bike was shaking pingin oil light was on, sounded like like it was running on 1 cyl. I have 13000 on it and to this point trouble free. Any suggestions?

One possibility of many:

Excessive crankshaft runout can wear out your oil pump - but you should have seen a gradual loss of oil pressure over time...  Was this gradual or sudden?  It is not uncommon for these motors to have higher then normal crank runout...   :nixweiss:

Not gradual, very wierd today, everything had been running fine, felt some vibration, new something was wrong, just happened to be close to the dealership, got it there and seems as though all hell broke loose.

Don't think I'm being a wisea$$ but have you checked the oil level? I had the same symptoms when the inner compressor nut failed. All of the crankcase oil ended up in the primary.

Not at all, did check it, and it was right where it needed to be, just hotter than I thougth that it should be. Could hardly pull the stick, tranny oil did smell like ass though.

I recently had exactly the same symptoms with 11,000 miles on my bike.  Are you using any kind of fuel management add on?  I had mine to 4 different Harley shops and none of them could figure out what my problem was.  I had a V&H fuelpak installed for the last 8,000 miles and had run perfectly, but on a hunch I pulled it and installed a Power Commander IIIusb and now everything is back to normal.   :confused5:  I can only speculate that something in the fuelpak went bad.  :nixweiss:  I've only put 500 miles on the new Power Commander but seems to have fixed my problem.  I'll give you an update once I get some more miles put on.

Got a call from the dealer today, after almost a complete tear down they found the oil pressure release valve was sticking, have to check further for any damage.
