Barnett or Tamachi Lock-up
« on: August 09, 2008, 11:55:53 PM »

What do ya all suggest for a lock-up clutch with my Jims 131, Barnett Scorpion or the new Tamachi? I'm kind of leaning towards the US made Barnett but down side i have to buy a pricey Primary Cover. I don't have much feedback on Tamachi

Sportygordy,

I sell the AIM VPC (Lockup Clutches) in Canada.

However you should contact Frank at HippoVPC@gmail.com (Hippo is in Arizona) he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to these set ups. I had a Rivera Pro Clutch with the VPC and it worked great. The engine was the Jims 120 putting out 131 HP and 134 lb. ft. of torque.

Tell frank that geezerglide (Leo) say hi.

Leo sent me there. Frank was helpful in selecting the right one. I got mine from Hippo, and I'm happy with it. Stock '07 SE clutch and the VPC, and it's taken many a Dyno run, besides my abuse! ;D ;)

I talked to a AIM rep last friday. They have a new lock up clutch not on thier site yet, which they suggest for my set up. The stall speed is somehow adjustable. i had a very hard time understanding the guy i was talking too beacause of his strong Asian draw. Real nice guy and seem to know what he is talking about. Cost is a steep $850.00.. Does Hippo offer a better deal? Once i get the part numbers together I'll call Hippo for the info. Thanks for the lead..

You probably spoke with Yasu Watanbee, Frank is very knowledgeable. I do not what kind of a deal he can cut you as he is a distributor for the AIM/VPC. I know he can offer better pricing than I can plus his delivery would be a lot better.
