eBay's new feedback policy
« on: May 20, 2008, 07:08:13 PM »

ebay's new feedback policy took effect this afternoon.

Was looking at an intercom, price was good, checked the sellers feedback 100%
Went on a while later and it was 99%

ebay now uses only the last 12 months for feedback and "neutrals" now count towards the negative side.
First noticed this about an hour ago on my feedback.

This morning I had a total of 609 FB's with a 99.9% rating.
Now I have 628 FB's and 97.8% rating.

And to top it off, sellers can no longer leave a negative or neutral feedback but buyers can still leave negatives.

Sellers are the people that made ebay what it is, now they took a tool away.

while i have been a victim of the old system not sure wether or not the change is a good thing

a while back i purchased an item using buy it now for an H-D part price was only ok but seller claimed to have it in stock. i paid within minutes of clicking buy it now. waited over 3 weeks for the part because the seller didnt really have it and needed to order it from a dealer, the exact thing i was trying to avoid. i left negative feedback based on the long wait to recieve item. the seller immediately left negative feedback for me saying beware of buyer. the system had become where buyers were afraid to leave honest feedback for fear of retaliation.... that said still not sure the chage is for the best

pretty much a good way to get negative is to leave a negative.

My first negative was for a similar problem, only I left the seller a neutral, he immediately (the ebay system) left me a negative.

After reading all the pages I think it might be a good thing. If the buyer is suspended all of their feed back is removed.
I have not left bad feed back when I should have because the seller has the last bullet and they always shoot back.

E-Bay and PayPal are the ones who need the negative feedback. You post it and they remove it faster Than dood  :o and that's pretty fast.

In October of 2006, we were part of a group of over 50 who purchased pool tables from a seller with 99% or better. Only negatives were problems with delivery time.

This outfit set up the perfect con. Get established, deliver product, get great feed back and then collect full payments on merchandise to be delivered within four to six weeks. They kept buyers pacified with e-mail updates as to the status of their delivery. The products never shipped. E-Bay only stated that too much time had passed. They would remove any negative post on the vendor "Campran" which allowed their scam to continue even further.

I flew out to Las Vegas and made a little investigation on my own armed with information about the company and officers. Long story short, the Nevada Attorney General persued the cases and got some results. Lucky for me, I used a Discover Card and they credited me back the same day I reported the problem. They later recovered at least some of their funds from the company. Some purchasers who paid with debit cards were stuck.

This shows how much creditability all the buyer protection claims are worth on their site. :sauer005: :sauer005:
