Fly by wire throttle
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:51:11 PM »

Hey Folks any body out there getting DTC codes P2138 and P1510. The first has to do with the
throttle 5vdc differential. The voltage read back to the ECU should total 5v from both sides of the throttle.
The P1510 puts the motor in limp mode to keep it from going into full throttle by accident. Just wondering
if anyone else has seen this problem yet and what your resolution was............thank   Roger

Have had no issues with the throttle and have about 7,000 miles on the bike.  Keep us posted as the the solution.

I've been doing a little experimentation with this problem. I believe I've been getting the code because
I have not let the electronic complete it's self check before hitting the starter botton. I dont have a break down
on the self diagnostics the bike goes through when you turn on the key, but I was thinking if you hit the starter
while it was looking at the throttle reference voltage the starter would cause the voltage to sag due to load
and that could cause an error in the throttle voltage check. I've been making sure to let the self check complete
prior to starting the bike and I have not had the codes return.  Another thing once you add the SERT it affects the
way the speed diagnostic check works. It will not allow you to look at all the codes as before. Now when I get a code
I have to plug my laptop in to veiw and clear some of them.

Just a head up when I took the bike in for my 1000 mi service they replaced the throttle switch. It was intermittant going open which was causing the codes mentioned above.
