The delay before actually starting is programmed into the ECM - it is a strategy used to make sure the engine is turning over fast enough for a reliable start and to reduce strain on the various parts.  In other words, that's normalMaybe if I practice saying that I can qualify to be a Harley service manager.

I'm not sure how far back it may go with Harley, but if my memory hasn't failed me completely I believe it came to light after they changed to the new primary drive for '07, and I believe it involved all engine sizes.  I'm certain that I had a document that mentioned this back in late '06, but now I can't find it. :confused5:  If I can locate it I'll post it again.
