Gearcase gasket leak????
« on: April 29, 2011, 03:56:32 PM »

Yup....

It looks like I have a bit o' oil dropping off the right side underneath the gearcase bracket.

Looks like it's time to do the pipes as well seeing as I have to take 'em off.

Which brings me to:

Is this going to be a bitch for me? Or, do I wanna take it to a wrench?

And...What pipe options are left? I want to keep the 2-2 config I run with the old Straightshots. I don't want to go with V&H Shorties...

I have the Drag Specialties catalog open as I type this...

Just got back from running the twisties in NC including the the Hwy 28 Hellbender and Dragon and my V&H Straight Shots didn't scrape although my Left Footpeg and the Bracket for the Muffler on front got scraped up good ..  Still looking for options to get a little more clearance..

Was so little of the Nut left on the Bolt shown had to remove it with Vice Grips ..

I assume you have pretty much the same style pipes as me ..

I did...until my local wrench actually talked me into the V&H Staggered Short Shots!

I LOVE them! Perfect tone. I don't feel the loss of power some claim. But, that could be cuz my old Straight Shots, were loosing so much back pressure because the head pipes were spider-cracked all over.

Yes. I'll get pics shortly.
