Torque Cones
« on: July 20, 2008, 01:56:32 AM »

Installing true dual headpipes on my 06 CUSE, Any performance gain or loss installing torque cones in the headpipes before installation ? Any benefit using them ?
Does exhaust tone/reversion change as well ?
Any and all tried and trued feedback needed.

Most systems are designed to work together (headpipes and mufflers), some use stepped headers to combat reversion, others generate sonic pulses. Its a complicated engineering design that frankly I wouldnt have a clue as to what design elements do what. I have learned over the years its not worth tinkering with the exhaust systems original design. Pick the best system for your bike and personal preference and get the engine tuned correctly.

Torque cones were popular on earlier (preTwin Cam) Harleys, especially with drag pipes.  With the Twin Cam exhaust port design, aftermarket anti-reversion devices really aren't necessary.  When you pull your stock headers and look inside the ports, you will see what I'm talking about.
