Bolt in cam suggestions
« on: August 06, 2008, 07:51:32 PM »

I am looking for suggestions for a bolt in cam for my 05 SEEG.  The engine is stock with the exception of a SERT and stage 1.  The Zippers 575's have been recommended by several, but I would like to hear from anyone who has used these cams in regards to valvetrain noise and idle quality (I like a racy, lumpy idle).  I know the head chambers are huge and it seems that a cam with with an earlier intake close would help to get the dynamic compression up.  Any suggestions on any cams other than the Zippers would  be appreciated also.  Thanks for any help.

Sorry nope nada. All I would tell you would be the Red Shift 575's. They are a great cam for the stock 103's.

Just completed what you are contemplating.  Very happy with the results both seat of the pants and dyno.  115 ft. lbs. torque (100@ 2600) and 95 HP.  I stayed with the stock headers and went with SE 98B Slip-ons as I wanted my power down low.

Did the Feuling oil pump and lifters (as recommended) along with the S&S gear drive for the cams.

A bit noisier that the Andrews 26G's in my Road King and the idle is somewhat "lumpy" but I knew that going in.  I would do it again.

Have about 18,000 miles on the 575's and gear drive.  Agree with DC and Efr..

575's or the Yuill Bros YB13 are the only cams that are specifically designed for the 103's. Both work very well.
