Not only is the off-idle stalling a PITA, it is a safety defect.  Other manufacturers have been forced to perform recalls for this sort of thing, but somehow Harley has been able to avoid the issue for several years.  In the past, since everyone immediately modified their bikes with A/C, pipes, and tuners H-D pretty much got a free ride as the owner's "fixed" the problem themselves.  Now that more and more people are leaving them stock to avoid warranty issues, they have to be getting more complaints about this.  BTW, after calling or writing H-D about it, visit the NHTSA web site and submit a complaint there as well.  Those are the ones that can cause the government to initiate an investigation that could ultimately lead to a recall.

Very good Jerry. That is the one that will hurt them in the long run. It will get something done if enough people file a complaint!!!

Ice,

Not in Aust and I assume that's for NZ as well.  There will be no letter sent out here and only bikes that show some problems, are off the road or known to dealer as a problem will have the 0906 done.  Apparantly I fell into the 'known to dealer' category

This is just a thought - but all the members of this site know all the issues better than the MoCo. Instead of writing an individual letter (particularly to NHTSA) why don't we start a petition? I mean we would have signatures from all over the freakin globe!!!....just a thought.

It's a bit sad (and pathetic) when the customer knows more about what's going on than the dealer.  My service manager hasn't tried to BS for some time now.
