« on: June 23, 2005, 02:33:49 PM »

Okay so I no I saw this somewhere but I am not sure where.
Can someone answer or direct me to where I could find the thread discussing the tour-pak lite not coming on.  Is there a new switch for the '05 tour-pak lite ??

A little help please ??

Their is definitely a new switch! It operates manually.....push on the lens to turn it on or off.

****Always remember to turn it off when closed or you'll drain your battery life........

Actually the new light is supposed to be smarter here as well.  Not only is the switch built in to the lens so you just push on the light itself.  But it's supposed to shut itself off after five minutes if you leave it on.  Also supposed to shut itself off if you just continually hold the lens/button down.  That way if something packed inside the tour pak ends up pressed against it the light won't stay on all the time.

As for the shutting itself off part, mine works, I tried it.  As for the turning itself off automatically if something inside the tour pak is pushing on it part; I couldn't fit inside the tour pak to watch it and conduct the test  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Okay,  Ithought I had saw something about pushing on the light.  I kind of tried that already, but now that I see that is the case I will go home and try pushing on it again.
If that don't work it way be time to break out the meter.

Thanks for the help and the feedback, it is much appreciated.

This site is so cool !!!

SAC-The light in my tourpak would not come on this past week, but I did not notice it till I was getting ready to leave to go to the shop, ie. I did not have time to check it out.  Hoping it was something simple I got a bulb while I was  at the shop.  The next day I installed the bulb, no help.  I have the spoiler light on the rear of my tourpak and it was working fine.  I took the seat off to do some electrical checks, but before a got started I pushed on the plug that goes to the tourpak light (the pak is removable and your have to unplug the connectors) and lo and behold the light came on.  The plug was latched together, but it still had just a slight amount of movement.l  You might want to try that first, all it cost is a little bit of your time.  Please let us know what you find.  Thanks

Always a good idea to check plugs.  Too easy to forget the simple stuff.  The tour pak with bulbs that you mention has been (thankfully) superceded though.  It's now a handy dandy little LED affair that's a manual on/manual off/automatic off thing.  Actually looks cool (well, cooler) and works better  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

New light came on my SEEG that I got a few weeks ago. Glad I read the thread about the push on / push off... thought the light was broke. Buddy of mine that got his SEEG a month before I did, has the old style light...

Tell your buddy to keep an eye on it.  They've got really bad habit of not turning off when you close the lid.  Might save him a dead battery sometime.

Okay - okay, so truth be told I have been so busy riding the thing  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]I haven't even thought about the tour-pak light since the last time I posted on this thread.
I took the tour-pak off and stored it in the cabinet secure like and it slipped my mind [smiley=nervous.gif].

I will look at it this weekend and get back to you hotlineguy !!!

UPDATE

Okay...  so I put the pak back on this weekend as I said and initially the light did not work still.  I then pushed, wiggled the plug inside the pak and still didn't have success, however after riding to the gym this morning and opening the tour-pak the light came on.
I don't have a switch on my light (push on and off) so I did that refrigerator on/off light thing peeking as I shut the pak.  It went out as I got close to closed.

I will be installing a toggle swtch at the light to be sure not to have the mishap of the light draining the battery.
