Yes, she had Allstate so I should be good. The fender crunched into the tire, and I had a hell of a time getting it on and off a flat bed. Been riding all day, then get popped 10 mins from my house.... typical.
Out of curiosity, how does the moco handle paintwork parts? Do they make like a bunch of extras during the production run and warehouse them? Or is it as easy as the paint booth guy putting in my VIN and boom a new one pops out of the paint booth?
The scalloped paint work looks hand-painted. I'd be impressed if its a machine doing that.
How do I insure a good match to the tank?
I'm thinking it needs a new fender, tire, maybe wheel? They need to check the wheel alignment for sure.... Anything else they should do (besides the 110" recall) based on this type of accident?
From what we've learned at the CVO factory tour, they set aside painted pieces during regular production in certain quantities. These are available as parts, just as described in the earlier posts.
Regarding to some of the pinstriping, the pin stripes e.g. on the Cross Bones are painted by a robot, however I do believe that the majority of the CVO parts are painted by hand (not free hand) because of the small production numbers. With the proper cut outs it's not that difficult for an experienced person.
Regarding the match: There is always a slight chance that it will not match 100% since the parts on the bike slightly change color when exposed to sun light and day to day use, while the replacements sit quietly at the warehouse. But I would not be overly concerned, since your bike is relatively new.
And: I would definitely have the tire changed!
Hope that helps,
Louis
