Rinehart pipes
« on: April 24, 2008, 04:18:35 PM »

Hey all,

I put Rinehart True Duals on my 08 ultra. Look and sound good. BUT..... the left side is like 1inch form my leg when I have my foot on the ground. It is so hot that I have to start lifting my leg at lights now. I am thinking about dropping the ass end of the bike a inch or 2. Or is these something else I can try first?

Thanks for your time.

I sounds like you were short changed at life's beginning. YUP, a lowing kit is probably what you need. I'm 6' 1" and don't have that problem BUT i feel like the Green Giant sitting on my wife's CVO Electra Glide with a lowering kit. Get your wallet out and maybe a few credit cards.. not cheap!

If I may add my 2cents lower the front at the same time you do the back, keeps things in alignment and looks much better. I have done it on a number of bikes and the only problem is you will scrape floor boards when getting hot into a very sharp turn. The first few times it well take you by surprise but you will get used to it. :2vrolijk_21:

got the same problem with my ultra.  I have learned to leave the left foot on the peg and put the right on the deck at a light.  If you don't you will burn your 'junk'.   word of caution NEVER wear shorts.

I too am vertically challenged and had my SECU lowered by the dealer. I then replaced the rear stock short shocks with a air suspension from Arnott and the results are perfect after dialing in the correct dampening setting of the 15 available. i actually am at #9 and may go 2 firmer to get closer to my SERK ride. I have read very good things about the Traxxion front end. If I had it to do over (and I may this winter) I would send the forks to Traxxion for the change out. It is pricey and there are tons of detail here on the sight.

Ride Safe! :coolblue:

I'm 6'0", and wear 34" L jeans.

I've got the RTD's on my '08 SERK and yeah, my left thigh gets hot too, especially last week in Sturgis traffic!

Looks like the '09's have addressed one issue on these bikes anyway . . .

Pull the pipes off and get them "Cermakromed" costs between $150/$200 depending where you go. Will reduce heat from the pipe . Makes  a big difference www.engineceramics.com/coating_exhaust.htm Greg
