CUSTOM PAINT
« on: July 10, 2005, 09:47:03 PM »

G'day,
Does anyone know which company the MOCO uses to paint their CVO tins?
Is it Kaliber or Caliber? If so, what's their address/website?... Can't seem to find it!
If not, which company do they use?
Thanks.

All CVO fiberglas parts (saddlebags, fairings, side covers, Deuce spoilers, etc.) are painted by H-D at their Tomahawk, WI plant. Don't know about the metal parts - sorry.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

At the annual Tomahawk, WI Fall Ride, Rally and H-D Open House last Sept. we took a tour of the H-D facility there. They paint all the fiberglas parts (saddlebags, fairings, side covers, spoilers, etc.), INCLUDING these same CVO parts, at that facility...including repairs and "re-do's".  Sheet metal is not painted at this Harley plant...that's all I know.

Aussieboi, thanks for posting the paint company.  I know it's not easy to find out these things.  The next question is:  can you deal directly with them for matching paint purchases?  Or re-paint (repairs)?    [smiley=nixweiss.gif]   spyder

Spydglide,

I wanted to get a H-D custom paint set, (see link below) for my '99 Road King. Unfortunately it's not available from the MOCO, so I thought maybe Calibre Inc. could do up a set for me.
I tried dealing directly with Calibre Inc. via an e-mail, I promptly received a e-mail from a MOCO customer service represenative for my region & he suggested getting a local, (Australian) painter, (that's been recommended from my local H-D dealership) to not only colour-match but to also replicate the ghost flames off a picture on the H-D website... color shop paint sets;

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448767266&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374308941557&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374308941557&bmUID=1123552788978&bmLocale=en_US

Needless to say, MOCO customer service... business as usual!
If anyone's got any advice or opinions on getting Calibre Inc to do the paintwork... it'll be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
