Over heated
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:27:38 PM »

I got caught in traffic yesterday and my bike over heated and stalled.  I had to wait for it to cool down a few degrees to get going again.  It made a lot of noise before it died.  Then this morning it sounded great.  I am going to change the oil from Syn3 to M1, maybe it will be better, who knows.

Normally I would not mind but the engine was just rebuilt and I only have 500 miles on it.  I hope I can do the parade in Milwaukee in couple of weeks.

If you're looking for information/suggestions it might help if you provided more information about your bike... what model, what motor, is the bike stock, what mods have been made (if any), etc.?

Made noise before it stalled? I'm no expert but that doesn't sound good. JMO but I wouldn't take a new motor with that few miles in a parade. Maybe you should have a discussion with the builder in case he would want to check anything out.

Syn 3 has got to go!!! PERIOD!!!! Red Line, Mobil 1 or Amsoil. I suspect the noise was the lifters, and the reason it would not fire up till it cooled down a bit. I would not ride the bike anymore till I got the fluids changed. BTW when you say a rebuild, what motor and what bike???

The parade in Milwaukee should not be a problem. it is cool up there and the MOCO will do their best to keep you moving (I hope)

GOOD LUCK!!!!
