My son, who is pictured with me in my signature has been riding on my bike since he was two, riding around the neighborhood on the tank. At four I was able to get him a treet legal helmet and he moved to the back. The first time on the highway I asked him every ten mph or so if we we're going to fast. As I hit 60 before I could get the question out, he just yelled FASTER!
He's 13 now AND STILL WANTS TO HANG WITH ME! At least on Nemo at the bike events.

He's got a career plan all worked out. He's going to be a Harley mechanic. He's got an internship lined up already. He's collected info from some of the tech schools and he's stayed on honor roll in school. Why? Because I made a bet with him when he was 8. Stay on honor roll till you get your license and I buy you a V-Rod (His bike of choice). Dang if I don't think I'm gonna have to pay up!
Final story... Two weeks ago on the way to Milwaukee we hit a tire aligator on I-94. The bike immediately started to shake BADLY. Wasn't sure what damage had happened, but the first order of business was to whoa her down. As I was letting her cost down I radioed the lead bike and said I was damaged and going to try to get to the side of the road. As soon as I was off mike, my son's voice calmly came over the intercom letting me know we were clear two lanes over to the shoulder and that his mom (who was riding staggered on the right side behind me) missed the tire and was OK. As soon as we got stopped he was under the bike looking at the back side as I was checking the front. We broke both rear isolaters and the motor/driveline was wiggling all over. We made out OK as luck would have it we were stopped right in front of Uke's and with a short wrong way trip on the frontage road I was in and fixed up in less then 3 hours. Hat's off to my son for his quick clear spotting making him the BEST BSR I've ever ridden with and to Uke's who where quick and friendly and didn't gouge a biker in need!
Ride Safe,
J-Carr
P.S. The pic in my sig, was taken on a 5 day father son road trip across PA and Ohio that was his choice. He wanted to us to do it. I am without a doubt, the luckiest father in the world!
