Does anyone know the reality of the time to replace a cam? I am considering disputing the charge I got of 4+ hours fpr cam, pushrod and Latus spring install while they were doing the head recall. Which by the way I was told is an 8 hour job with the MOCO allowing 5.1 in warranty claim??? I'm thinking I picked up some of that and don't really know.

Bo, it's probably a difficult thing to challenge as it stands.  Need to know if they bill by flat rate or time spent?

If time spent unless you watched over someone's shoulder the entire time you still don't know.  If flat rate; whose book?  Their own made up one or Harley's?  And do they separate the exhaust removal for the heads for the time saved by that removal for the cams?  They should.  But shop policy might be to not do so.

Best thing you might do would be wait a few days and call back in anonymously asking for the labor rate to install cams.  Then do the same thing asking for the labor rate to install pipes.  Cams minus pipes is a fair cost for your cam job as the pipes would have been off anyway to change the heads.  Then confront them with the answers they gave you if those answers are markedly different than what you were actually charged.

Thanks Don and I believe they are using flat rate from the H-D schedule-I'll let you know. On the bright side I have excellent oil pressure with the feuling spring- at idle is around 36 psi and at 3K around 60 psi nearly double the before pressures  :)
