Break in after 110 update
« on: October 02, 2008, 08:11:46 PM »

This question may have already been asked and answered so forgive me if I missed it.  My 07 SEUC is back today after having the engine update completed.  I'm leaving in 2 weeks for a week long road trip and I wanted to know if I need to take the engine through any break in before the trip.

If the rings and cylinder bores were undisturbed, you are good to go...  The break in period is primarily for seating the rings.   :2vrolijk_21:

I'd be putting as many miles on it as possible between now and your trip.  If it starts leaking again or they messed up something else (yes they do), I'd want to know about it before I'm away from home.  When I worked as a mechanic people would bring their car in the day before leaving on vacation to be "checked over" and we'd find something large enough to delay them.  I wouldn't want to risk a defective part ruining my trip.

If you think it's the journey not the destination you don't live in Nebraska.

Thanks, I plan to do as many miles as possible before the trip to make sure everything is tight and running smoothly.
