Read through the following thread.  It's discussed heavily there.  (Even got pictures!)

Everything you ever wanted to know about fairing removal but were afraid to ask  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Wow, again I've gotten great information from this site. Funny how things happen, just yesterday I was reading about Hogtunes speakers and had put them on my wish list. Now I know the correct way to get the fairing off, and even have picture to help. If only I had known about this site before I spent all that money on the MoCo's Service, Parts, Supplemental (For SEEG) manual. Oh well, maybe some day I'll be able to use the manuals to help somebody here, so it was money well spent Thanks again for this site, members, and all the help that is available.

That's it Chip.  Once you enter you never leave.  If there's a problem you can't call the front desk and expect to be able to talk to someone in a position to help you.  Your linens might have peeling chrome.  But all the other customers staying at the inn will be very cool people  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Thanks,
Dave

See 2lanes post concerning another thread - lots of good tips, especially his idea to use old socks over the spot lights.  I have a couple more suggestions that make it easier for me:
1. Remove windshield first.
2. Remove two bottom screws next.
3. Remove two screws near the speakers last.
4. Tilt fairing forward, reach in and disconnect headlight wiring connector.

Installation:
1. Connect headlight wire connector.
2. Loose install center w/shield screw.
3. Loose install two bottom screws (hardest to align, easier if these are done first).
4. Loose install two screws near speaker.
5. Install windshield and windshield screws, do not overtighten.
6. Tighten two bottom screws.
7. Tighten two screws near speakers.
The holes and anchors do not line up perfectly, and loose installing everything first helps get all of the screws started straight without crossthreading.

Don't forget the magnet... It seemed like a great tip and it really worked. I never dropped a screw through the entire process!  [smiley=drink.gif]
