Has anyone removed the tour pack from the 09SEUC
« on: September 26, 2008, 02:00:11 AM »

Hey,
Just wondered if anyone has removed the tour pack from the 09SEUC yet.  Can you just unplug the connectors from the pack and place them under the seat?  Not worried about amp and CB at this time.  Also any good lo pro seats for this bike out yet.  I really want the tour pack off and want to do it myself.  But don't want to get in over my head.
Thanks.

Other then the frame and new docking parts I wouldn't think it would be to much different then the previous years.  I'm in the process of getting all the parts for my 08.  There are several threads on doing it.

That is one that  I am wanting to do myself. I have not seen but very little '09 support in the current catalog.  :(
I figure HD and aftermarket will catch up in time......     ;D

There is a Detachable tourpak kit for the 09's.  When I was at the dealer getting my parts for my 07 they had an 09 SEUC on the floor.  I opened the tourpak and looked inside and everything seems the same.  I believe the only difference is new frame is bigger in the back so they had to make the hardware accomodate for that change.  Everything else should be the same.  If you just want to take the tourpak off and leave it off then it really doesn't matter.  It is not hard just a few bolts.  The amp will have to be removed if the tourpak is off.  I would recommend the detachable if you are going to go to the trouble to remove it then I can't imagine putting it back on.

No matter which way you go detachable or you just remove it -Do yourself a favor you just bought a Beautiful Bike call Jim (hd-dude) get him to send you the Hawg Wired system with the speakers for the lower fairing too.  Yes it is expensive but it is worth it.  I just installed it tonight and wish I would have bought it when I first bought my bike. UNBELIEVEABLE SOUND!  Trust me don't think about JUST DO IT! you will not be sorry.

I have a thread here Detachable Tourpak 07 Jester where I removed the tourpak it will give you an idea of what your bike will look like with the tourpak off.  I like the flexibility of being able to put it back on - You lose quite a bit of storage when it is off and if you decide to go for a trip then putting it back on will be nice. We are heading to Hood River OR this weekend and I just put mine back on for the trip.

I just picked up ny '09 twilight silver / midnight blue CUSE on Thursday and had the detach kit installed at the dealer. The lead tech completed the job and said it was not much different than earlier models. I purchased the Hawg-Wired 150W amp and front speakers with the front speakers amplified and the rear speakers unamplified. I was charged 4 hours labor to complete, including the amp/speaker install. My wife and I are going for a ride today and tomorrow so I will take the pak off after and post pictures. I purchased the Badlander seat to run with the tour-pak off.

Just got back from a 200 mile ride and all I can say is that I'm very impressed with the ride of the bike and once I get the bike breathing with the air cleaner / exhaust / race tuner the performance side of the bike will come alive. 6th gear was great on the highway and the room my wife and I have is greatly improved over our '05 SE Electra Glide. Hawg-wired amp and component fairing speakers were great. I haven't got the tour-pak removed yet but here are some pictures of the bike before we left. I chose to go with the 4" windshield and I have also removed the rear saddlebag guards. I'll post the pictures with the tour-pak removed later.

Sorry, I don't know why my pictures are not coming up direct with my posts. Last picture, more to come without the tour-pak.

Great pictures, please send some with the T/P off as well. And can you please post the part numbers for the kit used.

Ride safely,
