the ladies insurance company's customer service was rude and ignorant,

The only good thing about NJ insurance is the the State's Insurance & Banking Commission is very strong, and even a threat of a complaint can do wonders.

I just got into an accident with a moron driving a white 88-89 Camaro IROC last week. I was crossing the intersection when he came flying around another vehicle doing about 65+ in a 45 mph zone. fortunately, I saw him and hit the brakes before anything really serious could happen. I impacted his right front wheel at approx. 3 mph, came off the bike and kind of "cradled" it to the ground. I wasn't sure if the bike was going to go with the car, if he would stop, or whatever. The damage was to my left mirror, snapped the stud off from mirror to turn signal, some minor scraping on the lower engine cover. Steam was coming from my ears, I asked where he shot out of, all he kept saying was "I didn't think I was going that fast..." he was fifty-ish. I took the bike home, drilled out the stud, got all-thread from Lowes, tapped out the mirror and put it all back together. I was impressed with how many people stopped and asked me if I was o.k.

It is difficult to see bikes from a SUV depepnding on the height and the location of the bike.

Not taking sides here but this can easily happen ..I almost hit one myself which would suck since I have a HD logo on the SUV.   As a result I try not to park around SUVs and pickups if I can avoid it

I do not see how it can easily happen.  I have been driving 4x4 Crew Cab dualies since 94.  I have yet to back the trucks into any thing, nor has my wife or daughters.

This Crew Cab Dually is bigger than any SUV, wider too.

It's really hard to see something if you don't look!!! So many people I see in parking lots are busy looking at the front of the car and never use the mirrors (except to adjust make up). I had a guy look right at me in the eyes and pull into my lane I was able to get out of the way and at the next stop light he has some new dents in his door as wouldn't open his window.
