CAN SOMEONE MEASURE THE DISTANCE...... 07 CVO Springer
« on: October 04, 2008, 09:25:43 AM »

I'm still trying to adjust the speedo on my FXSTSSE2 08 after installing the Thundermax and now I just need someone to measure the distance from the floor to the spindle, as accurate as possible; that way I can  calculate the calibration number to enter on my 08 CVO. I would prefer the measurement in mm, but inches will do me fine or both.....

I will be waiting for it and then adjust mine accordingly. 8)

Best Regards,

Maybe I did not explain my need too clearly; I just need someone with a CVO Springer 07 to measure the distance from the front wheel spindle to the ground and secondly do the same with the rear wheel. Once I get those figures I might be able to calculate the Speedo calibration number on m FXSTSSE 2 08 with the TMAX installed.

hi spanish,
i hope this gives u some idea of the measurements, my tyres r due for replacement so with new tyres make an allowance, i dont have a jack to balance the frame on, so i was holding the bike in a level position while a friend took the readings
front 33cm   rear 32cm

I'll heave it up the jack tonight and cross examine these results from my end as well -
Spindle or axle alike ;-)

BTW , (highjacking this thread shamelessly ;-)  you keep the Dunlops on in Switserland or go for something more softcompounf aligned ?
I asked the stealer for Michelin 2CT's which I also had on my sportsbike last year (soft on the shoulders and more solid in the middle to avoid squaring out) but he wasn't sure these were available in 200 . Understand the relevance is more towards rear tires but just like to have an opinion - me not being a Dunlop fan to start with and recently skidding the scoot a few meters (albeit controlled) from left to right when cornering too sharp)

Cheers

hi amirrillo
yes after 17500km on the first set of tyres, squaring off is not so bad, i think i will renew with the dunlop in spring!

I run metzler 17" 210 on my dyna low rider, but they square off  badly and quickly but sadly no other option in that size.

Just thinking that having it on the jack was not the best way to measure - keeping the scoot upright w/o interference with the natural suspension sag is possibly the more accurate way. Anyhow - I had no buddy around to handle it  - so cranked it up above floor level - than lowered it to what I think was the right level (just before it would tilt to one side again that is) and entertained the measurements.
I got to same ballpark - Front 34 (newish tires) - rear 32.5 mm

Hope it helps

Thanks to both Amarillo and Ice :orange:

I now just have to measure mine and using the Excel table I got from ThunderMax I should be able to work out my speedo calibration figure.

GREAT guys!!

Thanks again ;D
