Heads and Pushrod length
« on: February 05, 2011, 01:24:21 PM »

I'll be doing a cam swap soon on my 2011 CVO Ultra.  When I do, I'm thinking of pulling the heads and putting a thinner headgasket in to bump the compression just a little.  I'd rather not install adjustable pushrods, heard at least one story of them failing, and that's one too many for me.

I'm considering the Cycle-Rama 575's which have a smaller base circle (-.020).  Does anyone know if the pushrod length is the same as stock 96 motors?

Another question, are the heads on these 100 motors the same as the SE 110+ heads?

I think the stock head gasket is 0.050", so if you go with the 0.030" base gasket you should be good to go with those cams. I changed to an Andrews 54H and 0.030" head gaskets.

The pushrods in a stock CVO110 are the same length as those in a TC96, 10.418" intake, 10.536" exhaust.  The stock CVO110 heads are not the 110+ heads from the SE catalog.  And there are different length one piece pushrods available, Harley's version is called Perfect Fit pushrods.  They come in +.030", +.060", -.030", and -.060" sizes.

Get er done. Even with the .030 you will be fine. You lost .020 off the base circle and lowered the stack .015. Net change .005"

I hadn't considered that.  DOH!  SOunds like stock length will work.  The lifter should be able to make that up as long as I have some oil pressure.     Don, any idea what compression I'll wind up with with this combo?
