PORT HOLE, lately most trans leaks I've seen are the shifter shaft seal. but i always replace all the seals sense I'm already in there.    axil

Yep, the big debate will whether to let the dealer do it or me. It is still under warranty.

But I was contemplating changing out the ring gear and pinion because of the starter issues anyway. And I'm still hankering to add the 6 speed and change out the front sprocket.

If you have the dealer do it, try to get them to use Cometic seals.  I had mine repaired under warranty and the dealer used H-D seals (both shift shaft and main seal were leaking), and the leak returned after a few thousand miles.  I'm gettng ready to redo the repair with Cometic seals this time, there are many on this site who swear by the Cometics versus the H-D seals, especially the shift shaft seal.  The Cometic part numbers are OS041 for the shift shaft, OS039 for the primary main shaft, OS043 for the starter shaft.

Thanks Jerry.
I have no doubt my dealer will not be game, even if I buy the parts, but it is worth a try.

With all that you want to do, I'm going to play Hoist here and say *%*%* the warranty.  And you will know it was done right.

That works if the only problem is bad seals ..........

We'll see. I am not going to worry about it until the season is over.

I used the cometic seals and Redline Heavy Shock proof, the main seal went out after about 15000 miles I was expecting to get more out of it, anyone else have main seal problems with using the Red line?
