Thanks much J.D. and all. Ok, I'm gonna try to score an '06 or later and make it work. Now just gotta find a painter.

I'm dam near as confused on the lowers. Lot's of them say for touring and some other seems not for Road Glide so I'm trying to wad through that. PITA

I'm not supposed to post shameless shills for a particular vendor, but Tony at UPTOWN CYCLES has had more cover bikes than anyone I know. Send me a PM with what you want done and I'll see if I can price it for you. I say this not to make money on the deal, but because the guy is good, damn good, damn, damn good

Ok so to confirm my suspicion, any tour pak will fit the the hardware, it's just the hardware that changes.

Talked to MOCO reps at both Sturgis and Milwaukee. They only have the chopped tour pak for the SERG because Willy G thinks it looked "cool". He didn't want them to sell the king tour pak for it. I tried to get the accessories guys to paint a king tour pak for the SERG and they said it takes an 8 stage paint process, due to the metal flake and that it would be too expensive to do. That's why the chopped pak is $1200 instead of $750. They said the king tour pak would be about$1800 for the pak alone, then add the back rest, luggage rack, lock kit, etc and it would be well over $2000 and they didn't think they could justify the cost. But the chopped pak is not too functional, as you can't get a helmet in them.  The mounting hardware is new to fit the larger fender and tire, but the holes line up the same, so an older tour pack can be "painted" to match. Which is what I plan to do with mine. I kept the tour pak and am selling the bike without it.  Just have to find a really good paint man that can match the color, because MOCO won't sell the paint.

In 05 I purchased a king tourpack from harley painted to match and that worked out good but if I had it to do over I could have saved some cash buying a bottom and painting that to go with my lid.If harley won't sell king tour pak most of art work is on the lid see how much lid is and buy used bottom get it painted to match lid.  RIDE SAFE JDO

Beginning in 2009, the CB antenna no longer uses a "load coil" which was previously mounted on the sheet-metal plate near the right stoplight (under the Tour Pak liner).  To the best of my recollection there is a different type of connector (again, under the Tour Pak liner) for the CB coax antenna cable.

Which brings up one of the differences between an Ultra T.P. and a Classic T.P. The others that I know are the lights across the back, passenger rest and speaker pods.

All of which can be bought separately and installed later on - - - - -which was the orginal marketing idea behind the Electra-Glide standard

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't run a TP without the tailight bar. The way the TP sits on the bike, it shields the brake and directional lights to somebody sitting in a vehicle higher up (like big rig drivers) Since the whole idea of a TP is long distance riding which always involves at least part of a day riding in the rain or maybe running late you want as much lighting on the back of the bike as you can get - without making it look stupid which the UC style TP does not.

Again, just my opinion

Respect what you're saying. Little different on an SERG as opposed to an Eg because of the different tail lighting but point's about the same. Lights in the back are a good thing. Couple of ideas bouncing around (voices) inside. We'll see what I can score and run w/ it.

I speak from experience. Almost got rear-ended in the rain by a big rig on I-40 in OK. At a rest stop down the road a ways, the driver recognized my bike and told me he didn't see me till he was almost on top of me because of the rain. His exact words were " you need to put some more lights on the back of that thing " I bought the UC style light kit for the TP and with the help of my zip saw and some Makers for courage, cut the corners out of the TP and installed the lights. Never had an issue with a truck comin up on me again after that.

Its much easier to go with the spoiler wing lights or with the new rack and light.  If you get a RG pack (06-08) then you can geet side marker lights to put in place of the chrome.  I  think I have enough rear lights on my 06 RG.  Tossing around what extra to put on the SERG.  Already did the WIG WAG and it is definately an attention getter!
