Quick Connect TP for Solo Seat
« on: February 13, 2009, 07:41:09 PM »

Hopefully you can see the picture! I am wondering, do I have the right hardware to make my TP a rider backrest when using a solo seat. Mine has the forward slot with what looks to be two locking spots. Need a little help.... anybody know the answer! Thanks ahead of time. Bill

Bill, the HD # for the solo tour pak rack is 53260-02.  Was looking on eBay for something else and did a quick check while there.  The first link below is the only thing I saw that wasn't listed for the same price you could just order one from any 20% off shop.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320337752687

The next link was a solo luggage rack:

With any of the solo racks you'll not be able to use the decorative "V-Rail" that Corbin offers for a lot of its solo seats.

That luggage rack looks to use the front and rear detachable points.  You have those.  Best guess I can make from the photo of the tour pak rack is that it used the front and third.  But can't know for sure from the photo in that listing.  If you need the bits for the one detachable point you're missing let me know.  We'll pull the part numbers for just the missing hardware itself rather than buying an entire detachable hardware kit.

I'll send her a PM and link the photo.

Candy, when you see this the question is which detachable points are used for the solo tour pak detachable rack.  You're the only person I could think of who has actually used one.

I have the HD solo detachable TP rack, and it uses the forward and unused mounting points in the photo.  These are the same mounting points used for the HD detachable passenger backrest.  HTH.

i have my ultra tour pak set up as the backrest - and im using a police seat with the air bag

its HEAVEN

i did remove the speaker pods as its a hassle to get my leg by them - smaller folks wont have that problem...  :-\

i run with a sidecar so the rear seat is pointless anyway.

Sorry, I'm late, but you have the answer.
I will watch this as I'd love to see if anyone gets it to work, where it both looks good and is comfortable.
For me... with my Corbin seat, the tourpak was a tad too far forward, not allowing me to sit all the way in the back of the seat.
As you have already discovered, if you leave it in the stock location with a solo seat, you have that pesky space that just does not look right.

Thanks Mrs. We! I will keep you informed on what I figure out to "fix" the location problem!

I put the foward mounted tour pack and solo seat from HD on my 09SERG. The space between the solo seat backrest and the tour pack was so big that i made a sliding mount for the tourpack. With it I was able to slide the tour pack foward and use it as my backrest. The biggest problem i then had was kicking the tour pack as i got on and off the bike. now I stand on the right floorboard and swing my left foot over the top.

I would be interested in the dimensions and design of your "sliding mount" bracket...or a picture.

Thanks
