Has anyone experienced a broken wire to the electronic fuel injection system? I have. Last year, just south of Kalispell, Montana I had traversed about 5 miles of a road under construction that was dirt/gravel and washboard surface. It was rough to say the least. My FLHRSEI began to run rough and I determined that it was running on one cylinder. The H-D deaer in Kalispell did a diagnostic which determined that the electronic fuel injection system was out to the front cylinder. Troubleshooting determined it to be a broken wire at the terminus of the wire loom to the plug that connects to the electronic fuel injection induction unit. The H-D soldered the wire and presumably I was fixed for good. This year, just outside of Cooke City, Montana on my way to Sturgis, I encountered a very similar road. Same result within a mile and I limped the rest of the way into Cody, Wyoming for repairs. It was exactly the same thing; the wire had broken at the recently soldered terminus. We spliced in about 4 " of extra wire. At the H-D show in Rapid City, an H-D tech said that during manufacture the wire harness has cable ties attached to the frame backbone. He acknowledged that inconsistency occurs in the placement of the cable ties and that in my case a tie had been made too close to the injector induction system that didn't allow sufficient vibration movement. He said the original repair should have included cutting of the first cable tie on the frame backbone that would immediatly give more movement. Any other similar experiences out there?
