I expected to have to change the handlebars even before I sat on my 09' CVO Road Glide. Every Harley that I have owned, I have had to change the handlebars...why would the SERG be any different? My arms were stretched completely straight on the stock handlebars and my fingers would go numb after a short time riding. I bought some Wild1 WO517's and had my dealer install them since I didn't know what to expect regarding fitament and the cable lengths, there are a few pictures here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=30112.0
With the new handlebars my arms are very relaxed and my elbows are bent at about a 45 degree angle. I think I got an additional 4" pullback and 2" additional height. The Wild1 517's are nothing like the Carlini Flying Apes or the Paul Yaffe Monkey Bars and the Wild1's might not be the style that appeal to you, but it will give you something for comparison. Here are a couple  pictures of stock and the Wild1 WO517's:

Ken!
You didn't have to replace brake or clutch cables right! with the wild1's

I take it the wild 1 517's are the bottom picture.  They look good.

Did they have to change any of the cables?

I have a set of the wild 1 RKII bars on my fatboy and really like them.

I think I will have to investigate the 517's for my bike when it comes in.  I like bars that come back to me so I can lean back on the back rest.

Bars are pretty subjective. Different heights, different builds, different seats, etc.

Having always ridden with some sort of a Drag Bar I was apprehensive when I tried a set of Apes on a Buds bike. Since than I installed Apes on my Softail and I have considered them for my Road Glide.  :2vrolijk_21:

Correct, I did not have to change out the cables. The clutch cable had to be rerouted though, the dealership almost gave up and told me that the cables needed to be changed and after a week of sitting in the shop they took another try and were successful in rerouting the clutch cable so no cables had to be replaced. My understanding was that the service tech. had to reroute the clutch cable several times before he got it so that the handlebars could be turned to the right and left without the clutch cable interferring with the handlebar functioning properly.
