Hiway pegs for 09 SERG
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:41:23 PM »

Hey guys, just picked up my new O/B 09 SERG today. Road it about 75 miles to the house. Perfect day since it was 82 degrees here in Oklahoma. First, I don't really see a big problem with the seat. It is a better seat then my 06 Street Glide was. The gap between the gas tank was there. Good power for a bike. Way to quiet for me. The bike came with the following at delivery:

Bike cover
Gold Key
2 soft saddle bags for the hard bags
intake cover for the rain
tool kit
leather cream for the seat

I bought the bike through military sales in Germany for $29,477. One good thing about getting the bike through military sales is there was no waiting list. They had several CVO SERGS.

Now to the big question, I bought a set of hiway pegs for it from Kuryakyn. The part number is 4528. Tour Tech Cruise pegs W/ISO - Wings for HD touring. Guys, I messed with these for hours and there is not a good position for them. I will be sending them back tomorrow. My question is, What are you guys using for good hiway pegs? I can not stand to ride with my legs in a 90 degree bend. They must be kicked out straight.

I read the thread and I really don't want to spend $1k for passenger floor boards and the brackets for the pegs to move forward. Has anyone used any after market setups? If the whole kit would have came up to about $300 I might have went with the threads setup.

Hey Deuce, The perfect hwy pegs have got to be HD part# 50957-02A. They are quality billet aluminum and do not weigh 150 lbs like most others. You can order matching pegs for the SERG from HD. The angle and length are the best I have tried. These are also used on most previous se ultra's. You can use a bolt kit to mount the pegs or purchase the polished ss pin set from HD. Retail is $79.95 plus pegs and pins. Excuse the harsh flash picture.

I second that. Genuine HD is my choice. Sometimes it can be like putting wall mart mudflaps or fake chrome Buick port holes on your new Ferrari! There are a few exceptions though, like wind shields or a curved lic plate frame. Hd don't make one of those. Just thinkin out loud.

Maxx,
Is that the stock A/C on the SERG or did you cut out the back plate like that?

Does it come with a "sock" then?  That's a lot of paper filter showing should you get caught in a downpour.  But then again maybe it's nothing to be concerned about. :nixweiss:
