kuryakyn rear light bar install
« on: January 24, 2009, 10:37:03 PM »

Anyone who has installed a kuryakyn rear light bar ass. #3000 or #2098 bar on an 07 SEUC type rear fender have any fitment problems? i recevied one as a gift and after removal of the stock bar tried  a dry fit of the new bar and it was a no go. The stock bar holes seem to be about 3/16's wider apart than the new bar holes are. Am I missing something here? Thanks

Here's what Kuryakyn says:  Fits: '97-'08 Road King Models (except '07-'08 FLHRSE), '98-'08 Road Glide, '97-'08 FLHT Standard    What do they consider "Standard"?  They specifically exclude the FLHRSE.  If noone answers, I think you need to call Kuryakyn and ask them if it is supposed to fit or not.  Their customer service is very nice to work with, at least from the experience I had with them. Toll free number is 866.277.9598.

Thanks, just saw that on the kurakyn site.  Will have to call tomorrow. Funny thing is, the new 3000 kit has that disclamier and the original 2098 bar only does not One would think the same bar would be in play.

What do they consider "Standard"?

They aren't using "Standard" as a generic descriptor.  That's the actual name of the baseline EG.  The FLHT is the "Electra Glide Standard."

The rear fender is the same on the SEUC as the other eletra glide models, it should fit....

That's my feeling too. It's definitely off though. Only thought is I screwed up the telemetry of the fender with the hitch install a while back, opening up the radius of the fender thereby lengthening the distance between the holes. Sounds a bit far fetched though. Measuring the distance between stock and the kuryakyn bar holes, there seems to be a difference of 1/8 - 3/16 in.. I don't have my fancy measuring here though.

Thanks Jeff, I did try that but it's just too far off to even get started. I called Kuryakyn and they said it is supposed to fit but that tollerances are probably on the far end of the scale on both the fender and the light bar. They have seen it before and said I need to file the fender for ease of fitment. I don't think so. The light bar holes measures 1/8th shorter on center than stock. I may have to exchange the kit to see if a new bar is closer to stock specs.
