We set a record here today....it was -9 degrees and with the wind chill it was -22 below zero......just a bit chilly.....
I'll read all the posts here about handlebars and research over the winter. I took it to my dealer and the GM, SM, and the sales guys were surprised at how clean this bike is.
You know it's hard to tell anything from only one ride.....and you are right it's totally a different experience from your SERK.....and anything is going to feel strange....I remember when I rode my FXR2 home (340 miles) from where I purchased it......It took the first 75 miles just to get settled down.......and another 225 to begin to get a feel....which was about 4-5 hours of riding......but I didn't do anything to the handlebars for nearly a year....once I finally got my handle bars on my RKC figured out....(baby apes 10.5" high and 35" wide) I finally figured out that the "OEM" handle bars for the FXR2 were basically worthless....much too narrow for comfort.....especially when I would go for a ride on one, and then jump on the other.....finally found some handlebars that were quite comfortable.....and you are right those mid range controls can be a bit unique when you aren't use to them.....but if you plan on doing any "Carving" up a canyon or you ride in the "twisties" those mid range controls will come in handy.....if you are going to just do "staight" ahead riding without many turns then the "mid range" controls will loose their appeal.....So anyway take it sloooooowww or you will be making several changes along the way........
Hopefully you had fun on your first ride......lol as for trading your serk for an evo road king....now there is a grand idea......or better yet a 2002 RK carbed....that's an idea too......I can give you lots of data on why selecting a 2002 would be a tremendous choice if you decide to move away from an EVO based road king.
LOL and speaking of handlebar posts....I have done one of those two Phil....LOL....but you probably already knew that....
