changing stock pipes on SERG ?
« on: December 19, 2008, 06:32:12 AM »

To explain ,
My SERG will be make now and will arrive at the end of january ( like the dealer called me yesterday and told me this great news , Yippieieah ! ) , a ghostglide means stardust silver / titanium dust , yeah yeah yeah . :orange:
Now i wrote to Klock Werks to send me the 12" tinted - waiting for their answer .
AND , I am thinking about what to do with the exhaust , the bikes in germany have a automatically fold which runs open or closed for the left ( bigger cored ) pipe , depending on the rate 70-80 km/h ( about 50-55 mph ) this bigger pipe is closed .
Now i am thinking about changing the pipes :
That means the right pipe to the left side , and the left ( bigger ) pipe mounting on the right side .
Somebody wrote that at the left side pipe flows out less at your american version .
Would the changing of the pipes would be possible , when you look at the mounting of those both sides and pipes , is it the same or different ?
Would somebody be possible to make a picture of the mounting of the stock pipes at each side of the SERG ?
That would be great .

HJ, IMHO you will not be pleased with the 12 in Klock Werk shield, they are flimsey and flop around at Idle, they do not come with a gasket or mounting Hardware, and the Turbulance at 75 mph will rattle you eyeballs. They do look good on a Road Glide.

Here's a link that will explain the active exhaust setup in international (HDI) models and the trouble code P1475 which pertains to a problem diagnostics code.
The system is an air intake solenoid located on the rear of the air filter backing plate that allows more intake air to be drawn into the filter.

Harley introduced the Active Exhaust System on the European 2007 Big Twin models. It is an ECM-controlled electric motor to open or close a valve in the exhaust system to meet the EU exhaust noise standards.
For those who would prefer the classic Harley rumble to the EU whisper it is first necessary to overcome the "Fault" warning light lights on the dash. Zodiac offers two "trick" boxes to fool the OEM on-board computer and eliminate the "Fault" light problem. These "trick" boxes are very easy to install as they simply plug-in between the ECM and the Active Exhaust Valve control motor. The "Trick" boxes are available in two versions:
702020 Overrule Trick Box, this box allows you to overrule the ECM with an included two way switch. One way the exhaust valve is constanly open, the other way the valve works as original. For use with the OEM or modified OEM mufflers

702021 Manual Trick Box, this box allows you to constantly open or to constantly close the exhaust valve with an included two way switch for use with aftermarket mufflers

Where is the link ?

The trickbox i know allread ( have had mounted on my 07 FLSTF ) but throw it out again and found a better solution .
The air intake control seems not be on the SERG because the EU-model will have the same air-cleaner like the US-version ( i think and hope and found no other ) in opposite of the SEUC which has the closed air-cleaner box with the control for intake at the backplate as it was on my 07Fatboy .
The 08 models did not bring the control-LED on the dash when you modified the exhaust-outlet-control and it was possible to manipulate this exhaust-control with the stock software on the ECM ( The Thundermax did not complained about that , which i had ).

Do you think the clearview " tall with recurve " is better at 6.1 feet . Or the X Large ?
The Klock Werks say nothing about the need of a seperate gasket or mounting hardware . What would you need ? Can`you take the stock gasket and screws ?

There is a thread here somewhere with considerable info on KW shields some like them many hate them, Clearview Tall, or Even The Medium is far superior to the KW for wind protection, All clearview shields come with mounting Grommets and gasket, the KW shield has no accessories at all.

My KW 12" came with a gasket and when I added the trim it's Very stable. Once I installed the Corbin Classic solo seat, the turbulence is gone. feels like I'm riding in a cocoon. If I can just get the bars adjusted right.

I have to correct my post :
The right-side-pipe is the bigger-cored one . To change the pipes makes no sense . Sorry . Better someone deletes this question from me .  ::) ::)
