No, I believe this is what is called a chopper.  By definition, a chopper is when you cut the frame and rake or stretch it from it's original dimensions.

There are many definitions of a chopper.

The original chopper had everything "chopped" off it that didn't make it go faster.  No horn, mirrors, brakes, etc.  It morphed into your definition & several others.  But the original chopper is nothing like the raked out bikes of today.

Nice Bike, BTW

......and my version.  Been working on her since November.  You know, those long Michigan winters.  Finally she saw the light of day last weekend.

CVOANDCHOP, I wonder where I missed it?  I have been cutting and chopping since 1966, this is as old school as you get. You may be right about the mirrors, but the neck is chopped and raked to 45 degrees, 10 over forks, bobbed rear fender, 21" front wheel, small performance carb kit, minimal wiring, Headwinds 60's headlight, the sissy bar came off a 1967 Triumph, drag pipes, (put D&D mufflers on for better performance), no big ol' fat rear tire, clean and lean.

I guess a set of apes and some paint makes a chop to some, not the 10 or 12 I have built. [smiley=confused5.gif]

I must have missed it too striker because I too have chopped a scooter or two and the practice was handed down from my Dad who (in his words was Hot Roddin' his scooter)
and he did it in the late 40's through the 60's and that quailfies as REAL OLD SCHOOL so let's quit this d*ck measuring about quailfing what a chopper is!!! [smiley=confused5.gif]

I agree Tonys, and did in fact have this bike at a rally that the late Indian Larry was show at.  He came through the parking lot to see what my bike was all about when I pulled up.  He and I spent some time discussing what has happened to the custom industry.  One thing we both agreed on; "wished that more guys would just get in their garage and start doing simple builds".  He said that he missed the days when guys would do what I had done to mine.  Just strip it down put a little personality in it, and ride it.  That is why when looking at Ironhorse, Bigdog, Bourget, and others, just all seem to be the same bikes with different paint.  They all have their place, but buying a rolling chasis was not his idea of building a chopper, nor is it any of the old school riders that wanted to do something that was their own.  The new stuff has alot of nice techical advances, but have really gotten too commercial.  If your really look at OCC, West Coast Choppers, Milwaukee Iron, Billy Lane etc, they have all gone "Techno".  I for one, would like to see more rigids.  That is until you get old like me, and you need a little more cushion.  Thus the shocks are still on mine. I personally was not influenced by the so called "old school" builders or bikes.  My background (and memories) were more the early to mid-70's type molded frame and tank choppers.  As a high school kid, I can remember looking at these bikes with their intricate paint jobs and coffin tanks in absolute wonderment.  I guess the point here is...to each his own.

By the by.....no off the shelf rolling chassis for my baby.  That's a ground up all the way!!!
