All owners of bikes greater then 100 CI
« on: December 17, 2003, 03:44:17 PM »

Be very careful with the 2 into one exhaust with this system. I had one from Vance and Hines.

Dynojet gave me a free power commander so they could map the bike. We installed a V and H 2 into 1 Pro Pipe HS. We lost 4 HP over the STOCK exhaust. Dusty over at Dyno jet, was confounded. He called the head R and D guy over a V and H and asked what was up. He said "I keep telling those guys in sales that the HS pipe will only work for engines upto 95 CI.

Where did Vegas Fireman slide off to?  I've sent you a PM and posted on a couple other threads here on this forum.

I've received an email from Dustn Schaller at Dynojet Research......he has stated that he has never dynoed a bike with 103" motor with a 2 into 1 exhaust system.

Vegas Fireman if you send me your email, I'll forward this email to you.

JC   I just put a SE Race Tuner in my 03 SERK because it was popping on the up shift. The bike has a SE Breather and Reinharts. Part of the Race Tuner install is dyno tuning. The sheet says 92 ft lbs and 89 hp.Since I've got a very fast 05 SEVROD to satisfy my need for speed on occasion, I am going to leave well enough alone.  I have read elsewhere in this site of folks claiming upwards of 112 hp with cam changes and Thunderheaders. But, they are also talking about having oil leaks etc. My opinion is that something around 90/90 makes a good strong dependable road bike that still gets reasonable fuel mileage. I think that's what the factory had in mind with these 103 motors

Hi Twin and welcome to the site! Yes I have the H-D digital oil temp gage and have seen it @230 degrees before. As I recall, the thermostat doesn't fully open until 210 degrees so 230 is not unusual really. You can always check the cooler fins for dirt and crud and clean it gently with some soap and water using an old toothbrush or something. Just got back from a run up along the coastlne and when I did check it I rarely saw it about 200 degrees and that was from sitting in traffic. I'll keep a close eye when it warms up again. I have an oil temp gauge mounted on my FLTRI and I saw it above 260 degrees many times, especially down in Nevada and across Death Valley area. Not unusual from what I've heard. Maybe some others can add their .02 cents on this subject.

Oil temps have been discussed here before, try the search tool to dig up more info. In a nutshell temps in the 220-240 range are typical for the 103's, especially with the lower fairings
