CVO Streetglide Radio Keeps Messing Up
« on: December 18, 2012, 08:09:03 AM »

The radio on my 2012 CVO Streetglide keeps messing up. Right now its either full volume or no volume. This is probably the 5th time that it has happened. In the past I would have to go into the settings and reset  everything like the the bass and treble and then it would work fine. But know nothing helps. Guess I will be taking her to the shop. Just curious if anyone has experienced this?

It happened once with me but after that the audio went off, I checked the fuse box found the audio fuse burned out I replace it and everything works fine until now.

It is possible for a fuse to "burn out" because it is faulty but more likely something caused it.  A wire shorting to ground intermittently (since you changed it and it is working now) or an excess (higher than the fuse rating) current load on the circuit will cause a fuse to burn.  I would think you have an intermittent problem with what ever is protected by that audio fuse.

Are you actually going into the diagnostic menu and doing a radio reset, or are you just manually adjusting the bass and treble.
This issue is usually related to the the J1850 data line feeding the processor speed input info.
A full reset usually works.
If you give us a call, we'll walk you through the reset proceedure.

Sorry, I wish that I had seen your post earlier. I took the bike into the dealer yesterday so that they could check it out.(Nice day to ride). I really appreciate your input and I will remember you the next time I have issues. I will let everyone know what they tell me.

Thanks Wayne

I will consider full inspection once I get the bike from dealer

Just got the bike back from the dealer and they ended up replacing the radio. Not sure if they checked any diagnostics. I believe all they did was plug in a test radio and the test radio worked fine so they replaced the radio. They said that they had never seen a radio do that before. I guess we'll see how it works.
