best exhaust
« on: January 14, 2009, 12:06:54 PM »

What type of exhaust system do I need? I have a stock 2002 FXD. I ride like a grandpa. Max HP isn't what I'm after. I want smooth throttle response and torque. After 4500 RPM I'll either slow down or up-shift. 2 into 1 or 2 into 2, stock pipes with slip-ons? How big in diameter and how long should the pipes be? What size collector would work best on a 2 into 1 exhaust?

when we were younger she would smack the back of my helmet - man that can hurt..... :o

of course if im looking at female younger than she is i get smacked even if im stopped at a light  :P

2 into 1 is your best all around performance gain on a stock engine.  Combine that with a freer flowing air cleaner and then re-tune the ECM.  Plenty of good 2-in-1's out there.  A lot of folks around here like the D&D Fat Cats.  I have the Vance and Hines Pro Pipe on my Street Glide and love them.  Good broad torque and livened up that 96 incher nicely. Plus they sound really nice.   :2vrolijk_21:
