« on: September 03, 2005, 10:27:59 PM »

Jimp,

When I spoke to Baker and worked out the gear ratios with Carls Speed shop that was what was recommended to me to buy to launch the ultra being as it was a heavy bike and I am not tiny either.   I followed the recommendation.   Its about 12 am here and for the life of me I cant remember the name of the guy at Bakers, but I will remember it prolly tomorrow during breakfast when I blurt it out and then wont be able to remember it till I get home again.  Its something like ghost / grim or along those lines.

Hey Unbalanced. Never seen a baker 6 speed in real life. Just wondering if the silver finish matches the engin silver finish.  Later Don

Don,

If I have some spare time before I leave tuesday morning on a business trip I will try to take a picture of the outside cover.   I didnt buy a case since I use the harley stock case and just replace the tranny.  I still owe someone pictures of the tapered baffles in conjuction with the ghost I just havent had a chance yet to take em.  If I dont have time I will do it this up coming weekend when I get back.

Personally I am super happy with the tapered baffle, the bike cant be redyno'd till I get back from Denver this week, but I expect it to be better :)

Now on to the pictures for Don on the Baker Tranny 6 speed comparison of chrome as best as I could with no one to hold it up against the bike for me.

Jimp the guys name was Repo it just hit me as I figured it would.  I had more time over the weekend to think about your question, so my question back to you is:

Are you sure your not talking 28 tooth pully for the front of the belt drive?   I am talking about a 21 tooth counter sprocket in the front of the primary case?   Screaming eagle part that comes with the chain.   I dont recall coming across one larger than a 25 tooth which is stock except for a few older models that had some gearing changes and now a days have commonly seen people use the 24tooth in conjuction with a 37 tooth clutch basket and then implement a 6 speed so the rpm's at 70 are better?

Unbalance, talk to  Baker transmission and ask about getting a gear set with the silver trap door with out the baker eatching on it . Said it could be done, but the order would take a little longer . Is yours installed yet?  latter don

Don,

Yes its in the bike and running only I have to say I made a bit of an ERR .....  The 6th gear is a .080 not a 1:1  5th is 1:1.  Yep I blew it but we had to take off the tranny again yesterday to make a shim adjustment so its all good now.

Runs good now.
