96 to 103 big bore 09 FLHX
« on: January 12, 2009, 09:38:27 PM »

I just had the BIG BORE kit put in my FLHX just before the season changed so i got a few good rides and I liked it but it was lacking the throttle response i was looking for. I also noticed the the catalytic converter was out of the headpipes but I still have the stock mufflers and I like that sound really don't want to change them. I have just installed a SERT and uploaded the basic map for what i have in my bike excluding mufflers the map called for racing exhaust. The bike startes and sounds great. My questions are before i go in the wrong direction do i need to go with a set of racing exhaust and if i have to how about rush slip on. my next question is should i take it to get it fined tuned or can I leave it be and ride for a while

The exhaust is going to be your choice, If you like the sound of the stockers leave them alone. The "race exhaust" in the base map you have is a broad term for free flowing mufflers. The Rush slip ons will give you better performance as they are free flowing.

As far as the map goes it is only a "base map". The base maps cover a wide variety of intake and exhaust combinations. A GOOD tuner and dyno tune will get you a much better running engine.
