fairing oil temp gauge
« on: December 29, 2008, 05:08:21 PM »

Does anybody have a picture of the sending unit actually in the oil pan?  I understand where to put the sending unit but would like to see a picture of anyone's installation who chose to use the gauge and put the sending unit in the oil pan.

About all of us has put the sender in the pan next to the drain plug.  Need to pick up a reducer at the auto parts or hardware store.  Do a search and their are pictures as well as the size of the reducer bushing you need.  Good luck.

Here's the one screwed in to the SERG.  It and the SEEG are identically done though.  Harness come out and goes to the right.  Front right corner tranny pan bolt gets a harness tie added to it so the little harness is supported there than tied off at the frame before running uphill.

Thank you.  That was a great picture and showed the clearances that I was concerned about.

You're welcome.  Not a problem.  There is room to install sending unit and brass fitting already assembled together.  So if you're doing the install when it's not oil change time you can do it.  Do it with a cold engine and its slow thick oil.  You can drop the plug and quickly screw in the new unit and lose so little oil you won't even fill the need to top it off.

The dealer did mine but put it in-line to the oil cooler (I'm going to change it to the oil pan) if anything, just because, now, it looks like hell!  Do you know if the fittings are the same for an 08 for an oilpan install?
