Wondering what the story is here, the bike ive been looking at in Waterford Harley Davidson does not have this, is it supposed to be standard, I think so, any thoughts on this would be appreciated
Lenny the chap in charge was away at a trade show in the US

I take it by your saying the owner of the dealership is in the U.S., that you're overseas.  My bet would be that the HDI version of the SE Springer and SE Fatbob don't come with the Heavy Breather.  I know that there is a big difference in the ACs on the European version of the Ultra and the US version.  That would be my guess.

The difference in the air cleaner has to do with European noise induction standards. An open air cleaner makes more noise.

Surely the standard exhaust is noisier than the forward facing exposed element Air Cleaner, how can noise from this pose a problem, im not saying you are incorrect but this seems rather strange

It may sound strange, but the EU has some very stict noise rules...I'm sure that's why.

Just to shed a little more light here guys. The EU version has different pipes from the US model again i guess for sound/emissions reasons. You can just about make out the exhaust in the pic.

Either way, that would be one nice Irish Springer to ride over there.

Everyone would be in flaming Emerald Ice green envy... :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Different types of air filter will have an effect on the output noise of an exhaust.
IF  a air filter can breathe more air than originally designed even by just drilling holes in the back plate, there is a noticable change in tone of the exhaust, Bogman you will have to do the same as everybody else has done for the last 105years to make ur new bike run better by changing the airfilter, the exhaust and remap the fuel injection system, if u want it to run right it has to illegal...............
