Las Vegas Bikefest
« on: September 23, 2005, 09:04:40 PM »

I went to LV Bikefest last week, anyone else go?  I was very disappointed, bike count was poor. Organizers did a OK job of transporting us from downtown to event. But I hate to pay $25 so I can buy stuff. Whats up with this? I would think one of the large casinos would offer up some parking space for the vendors to set up (for a fee) and let this event grow into a Daytona/Sturgis type event people would want to ride to. Glad I went, it made me appreciate home (Bikeweek, Biketoberfest, Leesburg etc.) and although I will continue to go to Vegas regular, no more trips to Bikefest.
One other thing, Signup hotel, who's name I won't mention, was NASTY. What a dump. And after bikers thought all year they could park on Fremont, It was not allowed this year due to "increased crowds" and we all want to walk thru a parking structure to look at bikes! NOT.

I went last year and came back with the same feelings.  Also, Las Vegas Blvd is no place to have an enjoyable ride.

I was at the Las Vegas Bikefest last year.   As far as Freemont Street, with all the bikes lined up and people everywhere that night, we thought that was great.  A bike show at night, outside and plenty of entertainment.  It is unfortunate that the bikes were not allowed on Freemont St. this year.  I would say part of the reason the bikes were not allowed back on Freemont st. is some of the people that operate them forget about safety, common sense and destructing other peoples property.  Don't take this wrong I love to watch a good burn off, but just not in a croud of people and lots of nice bikes unprotected.  Sh.t  Happens.  I saw guys burning holes down in the epoxy coated concrete side walks doing smoke shows that night.  No wonder they are in a parking lot now.  Sorry for the rant.
