Radio connections 2008 Ultra
« on: January 17, 2011, 03:37:02 PM »

My CD player broke on my 08 Ultra the dealer exchanged it under warranty. So I have it back today - fixed it back in place myself and have a connection left over!

I know its a poor picture but it should give someone a clue - seems to be attached to an antenna type thing mounted on the top of a fairing bracket

What is it - Do I need it - How come the new unit doesn't have a socket for it to plug in to - it was plugged in at the rear left hand side of the radio

Theres a label on it that says its a 07 refurbished unit... did they change something for the 08 and the dealers have given me the wrong one

Thanks

Looks like the CB antenna connector which plugs back into the back of the HK Head Unit or the antenna connector for the navigation module.

That appears to be the antenna connector for the navigation module that is internal to the advanced radio on eariler model SE's.  i would think if you have the antenna, then you had the module.

Thanks very much for your help guys - you were right ! - problem sorted by the dealer.

Over here when the unit goes in for repair, it goes to Belgium to be repaired. The dealer takes out the Nav system and takes off the CB unit before sending it to the repair shop. Belgium then sends back a new/reconditioned unit with these bits missing.... yup you guessed it... the dealer put the CB unit back on but didn't install the Nav system... hence the plug with nothing to plug into...

I'd put 2 CD's in by mistake (easy to do) and broke the player. The dealer was great even though it was just out of warranty and sent it away FOC. Its taken 6 weeks to get it back - but in this weather I wasn't riding it anyway

When turned on I now have WB band which we don't get over here and wasn't on my previous radio and the radio says it need calibrating and regionalised. I also have a chirping noise coming from the speakers... I'm sure all these can be sorted by the dealer when its back on the road

I think you will need to take your bike in, to the dealer, and have them do some calibrations on the radio via the data plug,  now that you have a new radio.    A second option is that they could install it a different bike in their shop and perform these tasks, then you can reinstall in your bike and it will work.  This resolves all the beeping and such, activates rear speakers if ya got em, intercom, nav, etc ..

Glad to have been of service.
