hard to start when cold after fullsac 2 inchers installed
« on: May 06, 2012, 01:50:33 AM »

Just went from V&H Hi Output Slip ons to Fullsac 2 inch cores in the standard pipes (cops booked me for non standard looking pipes prior) and the bike has hells own trouble starting cold?  Backfires and struggles to start, until warm.  AOK after that.  May need to retune, but it seems weird.  Any ideas??

No, nothing else changed.  Have V&H Power duals on it now anyway without the CAT, but that was the setup with the other pipes.   Also a new K&N filter to replce the stock Stage1 unit (but still much the same air flow).

So you didn't unplug the O2 sensors or anything while you were doing the mufflers?  Very strange......something could have gone wrong at the same time??? Very strange coincidence.....

From your first post I took it that you still had the stock head pipes on the bike.  Now you're saying you've had/got V&H head pipes on it.  Pipes is pipes, mufflers is mufflers.

Now it sounds like you also changed the breather assembly as well.  Sure, they may flow "much the same" but they may be enough different to warrant making some changes to the ECM calibration.  And it sure sounds like that's going to be the next thing on your list after checking over your installation work to make sure you dotted every "i" and crossed every "t".

He already had a high flow AC on the bike since it is stock on the SESG...so changing to the K&N element won't make enough of a difference to cause these problems. I did it without any issues.

Full service and re-dyno'd today after the Fullsac slip-ons installed.  To make it clear, I had already power duals and the hi output slip ons on the bike, just replaced the slip ons with the standard CVO mufflers with the new 2" Fullsac cores.

Set up the standard map and then went from there on the dyno.  Appears to have solved the cold start problem, though will test in the next week.  Figures are 98hp and 113ftlbs with a very linear hp curve and top torque in the mid 3s to 4.5s.  Looks like a pretty good set up to me - went strong on the way home!  Still baffled over the cold start, but upped the fuel a touch in the start sequence and it appears to have solved it.  Thanks for the comments guys.   :2vrolijk_21:

Guys, how do these figures stack up against most?  I use a SERT, which i gather from most comments here, people don't like.  Seems to pull very well for me. :coolblue:

Lots of people use it, along with all kinds of other tuners. Each has their favorite. Kinda like mufflers, eh?
