Gray Color on CVO 103 Motors
« on: November 09, 2005, 01:15:04 PM »

Does anyone know what the gray coating used on the CVO 103 motors might be?  Is this a powder coating and can it be applied to another motor by any reliable powder coater, or is this some protected HD process?  I have motor in a softail that I am cosidering to build and I prefer the gray color on my CVO 103 even over polishing.  Thanks in advance for the help...

hwyfever,

The engines are all powder coated (black and silver) - any reputable powder coating facility should be able to handle it.  Now days they can do almost as many colors as regular paint, so matching the H-D silver should be no problem.

Remember, powder coating involves baking at about 400 deg. Cylinders should be put in torque plates to avoid any warpage.
