09SERG Driver looking at 08 SEUC seat...how is it for trips?
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:49:36 PM »

I've got an 09SERG and have been looking at touring seats. I'm 5" 11" and like to stretch out. I hate to be pushed up with my n*ts on the tank so from afar, the 08 SEUC looks to sit you further back than most.  I also like the leather, heat and lack of exotic insert.  Can some of you 08 SEUC drivers let me know what you think of it?  How does it perform and hold up over time?

Why wouldn't it fit?  All touring seats in the MoCo catalog for 08 bikes state "08 and later". :nixweiss:  Short console?

They changed the frame for '09 and how the seat attaches in the front. Prior years had the tongue attached to the seat. This year it's attached to the bike and the seat has a slot. FWIW I liked the older way better.

As I understand it, they went to the slot in the seat/toung in frame in 08.  Someone with an 08 please chime in

Alright, I'll back out and stand corrected. I called the parts dept. and they said it'd fit. Same tank set up. Sorry 'bout that and good luck.

Yep, just swapped seats with a buddies' 08 Street Glide...perfect fit.  Now, if only a 08 SEUC Driver would chime in :orange:

I have an 08 Mustang seat off an 08 fltr that I am selling if interested pm me .  The seat has 5k miles on it and is in perfect condition.  It is the dual touring.

OK I will chime in. I have an 08 SEUC and I have had my seat replaced already because the leather was flaking off along the stich lines on my original seat. It took 2 months of fighting with the Moco but they finally warrantied it. I like the seat and it is comfotable on long rides and that's saying something for this 55 yr old guy. My biggest suggestion is use a good leather conditioner on it and hopefully it will last for you.

Thanks, I've read here about some flaking seats before but didn't connect it with the 08.  I've looked at the Sun Ray that the MoCo sells but I'd really like leather.  And from what I've seen in pictures anyway, the 08 SEUC's looks good for a touring seat...not like a couch.

Sun Ray
Retail: $749.00
Chicago HD: $599.20

08 SEUC
Retail: $899.00
Chicago HD: $719.20

The 08 LEATHER HEATED seat is only $120 more than a Sun Ray.  If the seat is of sufficient "CVO" quality and is comfortable, I'll get one.  I'd like to hear from my brothers & sisters here on the CVO web site to get the real skinny :2vrolijk_21:

I've got the 08 SEUC Connie and believe the seat is very comfortable.  I'm 6' and almost 60 years old and it feels pretty good even after several hundred miles.  I do wish it was a little narrower in front as I was used to riding a Heritage for years, so it was a bit of a transition.  30 years? Way to go, I ran like a bandit with a posse in hot pursuit after 20 1/2 years.

I've racked up 19k miles on my 08 and it is comfortable on long trips. I also condition the leather frequently and haven't
had any flaking issues mentioned here.

Have two friends with 08 SEUC's.  They like their seats (which are heated) but I don't think the seat will look very good one your SERG.  They are much larger....  $.02.
