smelly bike
« on: March 18, 2009, 05:20:04 PM »

I have the stock exhaust on my 07 SERK. When I hit the gas hard I get  a rotten egg smell. Does anyone know if I can re move the cats or a way to get rid of the smell    Thanks Billy

07 has cats in the pipe?...

Anyway... if thats true then yes... the smell is from running rich or the catalyst is not yet up to operating temp.

Its those smelly cats.

Have you ever wondered how something that makes the air smell so bad, can be any good for the environment?

Just like the odor control System at a wastewater plant...

Reminds me of "Pheobie's smelly dead cat" song. Don't remember the 07's having Cats.

I had the same smell on my 09 Electra classic. No Cat. Bad O ring between the cases. Motor blew up at 4k. :nixweiss:

Make sure your battery isn't sulfuring or overcharging. Harleys come with exhaust stock? I always thought they came without exhaust, intake, or ECM, and you had to purchase them separately with each new bike. LOL  ;)

You are obviously shifting incorrectly, this has been known to cause all manner of trouble :huepfenlol2: If you will read the following thread you will see how incorrect shifting creates problems. http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=33505.0

we all know how much you love your bike ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,   but your not really supposed to go out in the garage at night and have your way with the tailpipe.

this tends to cause a buildup in the exhaust ( which could be the cause of that awful smell of which you speak) :huepfenlol2:
