96 head pipe
« on: April 17, 2009, 09:04:51 AM »

I was wondering if any one has thought about if we were to block off the exit hole going to the cross over so that the header pipe would be a two into one pipe and use a fullsac 2" baffel if it would make better numbers than using it as it was designed.

$.02: You'd probably get similar numbers to the systems that are 2 into one with a ghost pipe.  Most of us seem to have gotten good numbers with the cc drilled out and 2" fullsacs.   :nixweiss:

Only the dyno would tell.....I found when I installed the non-cat headers and 2" fullsacs that the left side flowed much less than before- its like 60/40 or  maybe 70/30 right vs left. Sort of achieves the same thing.

It would be interesting to see the actual difference, although I think it unlikely that it will perform as well as a purpose built 2:1. Collector design is a critical aspect of a performance 2:1 design and since the stock pipe was not engineered to function as a 2:1, the collector was likely designed using different criteria.

My tuner told me he tried it or someone he knows, maybe "Doc" in Florida but it didn't work very well. I've been following some of the posts about the Fuel Moto Jackpot mufflers and he seems to be onto something.
