Harleys and Jeeps
« on: June 24, 2009, 10:49:45 PM »

Ever notice how Harleys and Jeeps seem to go together?  Last of the iconic American Brands I guess.  I've owned several of each over the years and just picked up this 1946 CJ-2A to keep my Harley company in the garage.  By the way, the jeep only cost about as much as a set of custom painted Harley tins.

Pretty nice looking Jeep, especially for that kind of price.

Very nice look. The bigger tires look great under those flat fenders :2vrolijk_21:

That's a good looking CJ.  They're a lot of fun and you can customize and refurbish them for a fraction of the cost of our beloved HOGs.

A fraction.....LOl. I had a built 401, SM465 tranny with dana 300. Dana 60 axles in both ends, 5.13 gears fully locked sitting on 38's. Not to mention all the money on a frame, wrangler tub, stainless lines and way too much other stuff. for what i had sitting there i could have bought my HD cash.

But hey, it was fun while it lasted.

Wow.  That must have been some rig.  I've got a '71 rebuilt Pinto engine in the Willys and just dropped $300 for a full set of new guages including the speedo.  Different world.

I had built it for playing in the woods and just kept expanding its capability. It started out with a 360 and dana 44's but after snapping a couple shafts i decided to go bigger, then bigger engine and so on. Yeah, not much different from the HD.

Don't you know JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket!!!!

I loved my YJ but it took tons of $$$ to keep it road worthy.
