David Poole
« on: April 28, 2009, 08:03:51 PM »

A good friend passed away today...

David Poole, who was a writer for the Charlotte Observer and radio personality on Sirius Radio, died today of a heart attack at age 50.  I first met David at an IMSA road race event my father participated in at the Lowes Speedway road course about 20 years ago.  We remained in contact ever since - emailing regularly - speaking via phone occaisonally...  In fact, we exchanged a few emails last evening.  David was being (typically) quite opinionated about the last lap accident at Talledaga during Sunday's Nascar Sprint Cup race - and was getting quite a lot of heat for his opinions.  So, I was giving him some good natured ribbing about his contrary nature - and he was telling me to go f$%k myself - like usual!!  This afternoon, while at home, he suffered a heart attack and died....

RIP and Gods Speed - my friend...

this is a Major loss to the Nascar community. David's work was usually dead on and he did not mince words or sell out to the "powers". i will miss him greatly on my "morning drive". what a shame

David Poole was real and differently keep Nascar on its toes with his honest comments about the sports and its drivers for my drives home in the morning I'm sure the morning will be less of the same without David's humor and comments. GOD BLESS too you and also too all of David's Nascar family.
