Tuning question
« on: April 18, 2009, 08:04:52 PM »

I was speaking with a friend today and was told, it was unnecessary to use a power commader, tts mastertune, race tuner or any of the other units one can purchase. He said that if you are simply doing a stage one, that the dealer can download a map to your bikes computer. I have no knowledge about any of this and wanted to check with my good friend here on the boards for advice
Is this true? Did I waste money on a Power Commander or is he mistaken?
Thanks

The stage 1 download is just a higher rev limit and a slight (richer) change to the base map. It is intended for the SE slip-ons and by no means a proper map for a performance exhaust system. Every bike is different, even bikes with the same mods will have differences in the fuel map when tuned. There is NO replacement for a fuel management device and a proper dyno tune.

Harley's map for a stage one is perfectly acceptable for basic slip ons
