OK Guys, help me out here. My handlebars are just to far away. Seems that my arms are fully extended and reaching kinda in a downward slant to hold on to this thing. Finally got the floorbards fixed the way I wanted them, Got the backrest in the right position after modifications. But I can't seem to figure out what to do about the handlebars. I just don't feel comfortable on this bike the way I would like to feel. I wish I could get them back a couple of inches further, and even raise them up a little. Several has told me that I need to get the handlebars that comes on the Heritage Classic. But with the type of throttle setup on these new bikes, not sure that is an option. Is anyone else out there having the same type problem. Any suggestions, tips, clues, anything that I can do to help me hold onto this thing and feel more comfortable is greatly appreciated
To start with, I don't think the Heritage Classic bars would fit this bike. The base of your bars need to be pretty wide just to make it out each side of the fairing before they start upward. Somewhere here on the forum, you may be able to search out the thread that shows a SEUC with ape hangers, and it actually looked nice. Check out this page and the entire website for Chubby Wild One bars
http://www.wild1inc.com/577jr.html That will show you some 12.5" apes on an Ultra...those are the WO577's. I'm not sure if the WO508's will work, but you can check out their site. The WO508's won't raise you up so much, but they do pull the bars back closer to you. Anyway, that's a good site to check out for bars. Check out the 575's also

http://www.sideroadcycles.com/AmericanMotorcycles/Handlebars/More_HD/D2Ultra_Classic.html I'm not sure if the fly by wire is any kind of issue or not, but I'm sure that before you order anything, you'll ask the questions to make sure whatever you get will work okay for your bike.
Handlebars are a tough animal to deal with. It took me 3 sets on my last bike until I found the perfect set for me. Those were 13.5" Flanders Original Apes. On my SEUC, luckily, the bars are sitting pretty well and I don't think I'm going to have to change them. If you have any thoughts of changing your seat at any time, do that first, and then the handlebars. Your other way around things is just starting with a different seat that moves you forward, like the Harley Reach Seat or something along those lines. What stinks about going that route is that in their infinite wisdom, Harley put that grey stripe on the seat and also on the tourpack backrest. If you change the seat, you no longer have a matching set. To me, that was a terrible idea from the MOCO, since after pipes, the seat is probably one of the big items that many people change in their first several months of ownership.
Hope that provides with a starting point.
